I’m an education event specialist, writer, educator, and independent scholar of visual culture based in Richmond, Virginia with past lives in Austin, Texas and Madrid, Spain.
My writing covers wide ranging topics in visual culture, American and international politics, teaching pedagogy, and writing practice. A former academic, I have presented my research on visual culture, media, and American political shifts at numerous academic conferences and published under academic presses and in popular media outlets. I taught writing and composition for over five years with the Well-Trained Mind Academy and my book Who Said What? with The Well-Trained Mind Press is available for order.
Since transitioning out of academia, I’ve had the opportunity to coordinate large scale initiatives and events around issues in education. With the Learning Agency, I helped launch and coordinate the Learning Engineering Tools Competition, and continue to advise on events. I currently serve on the programming team for SXSW EDU, where I manage and support all programming for the conference and festival that takes place each March. Starting in 2022, I also support the National Association for Media Literacy Education’s events.
I don’t like to stay in one place. The image on my homepage comes from a backpacking trip through the Balkans.
